40 maunds of substandard animal fat seized in Muzaffarabad

MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Muzaffarabad Food Authority on Tuesday recovered over 40 maunds of animal fat from the roof of a passenger coaster at the Kohala entry point.

According to officials, the fat was to be supplied to various kebab houses in Muzaffarabad to be used in the preparation of kebabs.

During the checking, the food safety team stopped the coaster and searched it, recovering a large quantity of fat hidden on the roof of the vehicle, which was immediately seized.

Initial investigation revealed that the fat was being transported in violation of regulations and rules. Further investigation is underway.

According to Food Authority officials, strict legal action is being taken against the responsible individuals, and the process of registering an FIR has also been started.

Officials said that there will be no compromise on the health of citizens, and the surveillance system at entry points is being made more effective to prevent the supply of substandard food items.

It is worth noting that the kebabs of Muzaffarabad city are quite famous.

Now, the recovery of more than 40 maunds of substandard fat has raised questions about which animal this fat belongs to and where it was being supplied.

Only the Food Authority’s investigation will reveal where this fat was to be used and to what extent it was harmful to health.
