CALIFORNIA (Kashmir English): WhatsApp is rolling out two new features for Android users, which include tracking Portal and Managing Chat Backups in beta.
According to a report by Wabetainfo, Tracking Portal is basically a feature that lets users know which of their contacts is currently online.
This will be indicated by a green dot that will look like an online contact.
According to the report, a small green dot will appear on an online user’s profile photo, indicating that the person is currently using WhatsApp.
In this way, you will know a contact’s availability from the chat info screen, and you will not need to open a chat window where the contact’s name is displayed online.
The report said that users will be able to hide their online status through privacy settings.
This green dot design is a feature similar to the online indicators used on Facebook and Instagram, which let users know in real time which person is available for chat.
Along with the online indicator, WhatsApp is also testing a backup management section.
This feature will help users view, delete, and create duplicates of past backups, which will allow them to clear storage space on their devices.
According to the report, this feature is still in its early stages and is not available even to beta users. But whenever it is introduced, it will also have a shortcut to Google Drive storage.
