ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, experienced a significant global outage on Friday, the second in a week, leaving users worldwide unable to access the service.

According to the internet tracking monitor Downdetector, there were more than 41,000 reports of issues with the social media platform as of 10:35 am ET in the United States

Users in the UK reported around 8000 incidents, and over 2,400 issues were reported in India, according to Reuters.

In a post on X, the internet tracking website, NetBlocks said, “X is again experiencing international outages; incident not related to country-level internet disruptions or filtering.”

Reports of problems surged around 8 pm local time, according to tracking website Downdetector, which recorded a substantial spike in user complaints, saying that user reports indicated “possible problems” at X.

In an update at 9:21 pm, Cloudflare said it had identified an issue with Magic Network Monitoring Data, explaining that customers might observe empty or blank data via the dashboard. It said it was working to mitigate the problem.

Earlier at 8 pm, it said scheduled maintenance was currently in progress, and traffic may be rerouted from the affected locations, potentially causing slight increases in latency for end-users.

No official statement has yet been released by X regarding the cause or expected resolution of the outage.

Earlier this week, an X outage eased after thousands of users worldwide reported issues with accessing the social media platform, according to Downdetector.
