ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Law enforcement agencies have arrested two JUI social media activists during a nationwide operation launched after Azaad Digital CEO Muhammad Musawwir Abbasi filed a complaint over death threats, harassment and online character assassination targeting him, his family and the organisation’s employees.

The complaint prompted authorities to identify 11 individuals for investigation, with further legal proceedings underway.

The two arrests were made during coordinated operations in different parts of the country. Naeem-ul-Haq, son of Siraj-ul-Haq, was taken into custody from the Morgah area of Rawalpindi, while Naveed Ahmed Abbasi, son of Muhammad Riaz Abbasi, was arrested in Bansra Gali, Murree.

Naveed Ahmed Abbasi previously served as General Secretary of Jamiat in Murree district. He was also linked to social media accounts through which death threats were repeatedly issued.

The operation extended across Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Lahore and Karachi, with authorities conducting 17 raids.

Teams from the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), based in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Karachi, took part in the coordinated action. Islamabad Police and its Quick Response Force also assisted the teams.

Investigators used cellular tracking and facial recognition technology to trace the individuals named in the complaint.

Efforts continue to locate the remaining nine individuals as the investigation into threats and harassment targeting the Azaad Digital chief executive, his family and the organisation proceeds.
