MASTUNG (Kashmir English): The martyrdom of Sessions Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar and his bodyguard in a terrorist attack in Mastung has intensified concerns over the deteriorating security situation in Balochistan, with commentators and some sources describing the incident as part of a broader campaign aimed at creating fear and instability in the province.
The attack follows a series of recent violent incidents, including the killing of five labourers in Washuk district, the fatal shooting of three passengers on a bus in Khad Kocha, and the killing of a woman in a separate firing incident.
Following the latest attack, claims have circulated alleging a connection between the judge’s killing and earlier criticism of the judiciary after the sentencing of leaders associated with the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC). The claims further allege links between the BYC and militant groups operating in Balochistan.
These allegations have not been independently verified, and no official investigation has publicly established responsibility for the Mastung attack or confirmed any connection between the incident and previous statements by political or activist figures.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the attack, while security forces continue efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The killing of a serving judicial officer has drawn widespread concern, with officials expected to review the security arrangements for members of the judiciary and other public officials in the province.

Expressing deep sorrow over the death of Session Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar, the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Sarfraz Bugti, stated that the attack on Sessions Judge Abdul Hakeem Kakar is an attack on the state.
Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti vowed that the terrorists will be brought to justice at all costs. The blood of the protectors of the law will not go in vain.
There is no concession for terrorists and their facilitators, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti further stated.
Those who challenge the writ of the state will be crushed. There will be no haven for terrorists in Balochistan.
Moreover, CM Bugti added that operations against peace-loving elements will be further intensified. Every network of terrorism will be uprooted.
The war against terrorism will continue with full force, Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti concluded.
