ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Capital Development Authority’s (CDA) Design Vetting Committee (DVC) has granted in-principle approval to two skyscrapers measuring up to 659 feet in Islamabad’s Blue Area, along with three other development projects, the state-run APP reported.
The proposed 45-storey mixed-use tower, planned for Plot 13 in Blue Area, Sector F-8/G-8, would stand approximately 659 feet tall, making it one of the tallest proposed buildings in the federal capital.
The project includes five underground floors for parking, ground-floor retail outlets, separate entrance lobbies, restaurant floors, residential apartments on upper levels, and penthouses at the top.
The civic authority also approved the plan for another high-rise on Plot 09 in Blue Area, Sector F-9/G-9. The proposed tower would be approximately 580 feet tall, with 42 floors, including additional service floors.
Three other projects were also granted in-principle approval, including Tremezzo Mall in Bahria Garden City, Plot 62 in the Business Park at Gulberg Greens, and Plot 108 in Park Avenue North, Gulberg Greens.
The decisions were taken at a meeting of the Design Vetting Committee at CDA headquarters, chaired by Member Planning and Development Muhammad Umair.
The proposed schemes were reviewed against applicable planning regulations, technical requirements, and construction standards.
The CDA said the approvals formed part of its efforts to encourage private-sector investment, promote vertical development and facilitate commercial construction in the capital.
CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf reiterated the authority’s commitment to facilitating investors, encouraging private-sector participation, improving land utilisation and expediting the processing of building plans.
The authority said all projects would have to meet the relevant legal, technical and regulatory requirements before receiving final approval, including standards relating to structural stability, parking, fire safety and protection of human life.
