NEW YORK (Kashmir English): WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will allow iPhone users to schedule messages and have them sent automatically at a selected time, making it easier to stay in touch without having to send messages manually.
According to technology website WABetaInfo, the feature was initially spotted in the Android beta version of WhatsApp and is now being tested with a limited number of iOS beta users.
The upcoming feature will allow users to compose a message in any chat and select a specific date and time for its delivery.
By pressing and holding the send button, users will be able to schedule their messages, which will then be sent automatically at the chosen time.
Once a message has been scheduled, a confirmation notification will appear within the relevant chat.
However, the notification will only be visible to the user who scheduled the message.
According to the report, users will be able to schedule messages from 10 minutes to two weeks in advance.
The feature will not be limited to text messages, as users will also be able to schedule photos, videos and web links for delivery.
However, the current testing version does not support scheduling multiple photos or videos at the same time.
The feature is currently being tested among select iOS beta users, and WhatsApp has yet to announce an official date for its wider rollout.
