BHIMBER (Kashmir English): Following the imposition of Section 144 in Mirpur District, the authorities of Azad Kashmir have extended the orders to Bhimber District.
According to the notification issued by District Magistrate Bhimber, Chaudhry Muhammad Tariq, a complete ban has been placed on the gathering of five or more people in one place, as well as on all forms of assemblies, processions, rallies, sit-ins, and public protests across the district.
The administration took this step in view of reports that various political and non-political organizations plan to hold protest rallies and demonstrations in the coming days to press for various demands.
In the past, such protests have led to the blocking of key roads and intersections in Bhimber city; this not only disrupted daily life and business activities but also caused severe difficulties in transporting patients to the hospital via ambulance promptly.
Warning of Action Under Section 188
The District Magistrate’s order clarifies that the ban was deemed necessary due to the risk of participants clashing with law enforcement personnel or damaging public property during protests.
This order will remain in effect for two months from the date of issuance (September 16, 2026). Anyone found violating this order will face strict legal action under Section 188 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CPC).
Instructions have also been issued to the SSP of Bhimber to ensure the order is widely publicized through public announcements.
