LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 in view of the law and order situation across the province and possible threats of terrorism.
According to the notification issued by the Punjab Home Department, a ban has been imposed on gatherings of 5 or more people, rallies, meetings, processions, sit-ins and demonstrations in public places, roads, highways and open spaces across the province.
According to the notification, law enforcement and intelligence agencies have received reports regarding possible threats of terrorism during public gatherings in Punjab.
Under Section 144, marriage ceremonies, funeral prayers, burials and worship in mosques and churches have been exempted from the ban, while the official duties of government and semi-government institutions and court proceedings will also be exempted from the ban.
