LAHORE (Kashmir English): A new procedure for obtaining a driving licence has come into effect from September 17, 2026, introducing stricter timelines for candidates completing their e-sign and road tests.
According to officials, candidates who pass the e-sign test must take the road test within 24 hours. If the road test is not completed within this period, the e-sign test result will become invalid, and the candidate will have to restart the process.
Officials have directed traffic officers to strictly enforce the new procedure. They clarified that even if a candidate passes both the e-sign and road tests within the required 24-hour period, approval will not be granted unless the PSID (Payment Slip ID) has been generated.
Under the revised procedure, if the PSID is not generated, both test results will lapse after 24 hours. Once generated, the PSID fee must be paid within seven days.
Failure to make the payment within this period will result in cancellation of the entire application. If the PSID expires, the applicant will be required to retake both the e-sign and road tests, with the road test again subject to the 24-hour requirement.
The tests must be completed at the designated road test site where the regular driving licence application was submitted. The DIG Traffic has issued directives to traffic heads across all districts to ensure strict implementation of the new procedure.
Officials said the revised system aims to ensure that driving licence testing and application procedures are completed within defined timeframes and to improve the overall management of licence applications.
