MIRPUR (Kashmir English): A tragic incident was reported in the Mangla Canal area within the jurisdiction of Mangla Cantt Police Station, where police have arrested a man accused of throwing his three young children into the canal.
According to police, the accused, identified as Zeeshan Farooq, allegedly threw his children, eight-year-old Fajar, five-year-old Umar Zeeshan, and three-year-old Noor Fatima, into the canal.
Rescue teams recovered the bodies of two children from the canal, while a search operation is underway to locate five-year-old Umar Zeeshan.
Police said preliminary investigations indicate that the accused was reportedly under mental stress following domestic disputes with his wife and various legal cases. However, the circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated.
The accused has been taken into custody, and police are conducting further investigations to determine the exact circumstances and motive behind the incident.
Meanwhile, rescue personnel continue efforts to locate the missing child, while the tragic incident has left the local community and the child’s family in deep shock and grief.
