HOUSTON (Kashmir English): Cristiano Ronaldo’s brilliant performance in the FIFA World Cup 2026 helped Portugal defeat Uzbekistan 5-0.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored 2 goals in the match played in Houston, leading his team to register its first win in Group K of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Portugal showed the lead in the first half, and in the sixth minute, the 41-year-old Ronaldo scored a brilliant goal. Later, in the 17th minute, Nuno Mendes scored a brilliant low shot from a free kick to make the score 2-0.

In the 29th minute, Uzbekistan scored a brilliant goal from long range, but the goal was disallowed due to a foul.

In the 39th minute, Ronaldo scored his second goal to make Portugal’s lead 3-0 and put the team in a strong position until halftime.

At the beginning of the second half, Portugal increased the pressure on Uzbekistan by adopting an aggressive approach.

Portugal scored their fourth goal in the 60th minute. Joao Felix’s backheel effort from Bruno Fernandes’ corner was deflected off Khushnov on the line and into his own net, resulting in an unfortunate goal.

In the 87th minute, Rafael Leao scored a stunning finish to make it 0-5 for Portugal. Ronaldo came close to a hat-trick in extra time but missed the final chance, and the match ended in Portugal’s complete control.

Ronaldo makes World Cup history with sixth edition goal

Cristiano Ronaldo made history in the FIFA World Cup by scoring a goal in six different editions.

The Portuguese star footballer became the first player in the world to score in 6 different World Cup editions. In the match played in Houston, 41-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo crossed the historic milestone against Uzbekistan.

In the sixth minute of the match, Ronaldo finished beautifully with his right foot on Joao Cancelo’s wonderful cross and set a unique record in World Cup history as soon as the goal was scored.

With this goal, he became the first footballer in the world to score a goal in 6 different World Cup editions. Ronaldo scored one goal each in 2006, 2010, and 2014, 4 goals in 2018, and one goal in 2022.

Ronaldo also became the second-oldest goalscorer in World Cup history, while this record is held by Cameroon’s Roger Mela.

Interestingly, Lionel Messi is also participating in his sixth World Cup this year, but he has not been able to score a goal in every edition.
