ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Election Commission of Pakistan has removed former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi’s Awaam Pakistan Party from the list of registered political parties for ‘failing to hold intra-party elections within the stipulated timeframe’.
According to a notification issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan, the party didn’t conduct intra-party elections within the period required by law, resulting in the party being delisted under the relevant provisions of the Election Act.
The notification states that all registered political parties are required to hold intra-party elections within the specific time period according to the Election Act, otherwise, action can be taken as per law.
It is worth noting that after the previous elections, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail, and other leaders separated from the PML-N to form the Awaam Pakistan Party.
Former Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan also joined the Awaam Pakistan Party, but after that no other prominent figure joined the Abbasi-led party.

According to the Awaam Pakistan Party, it represents Pakistani people at a grassroots level and that the political movement was dedicated to building a prosperous, just, and inclusive Pakistan.
