ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari on Thursday held detailed consultations on an in-house change in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) amid the PPP’s plan to table a no-confidence motion against PM Anwarul Haq.

According to details, PM Shehbaz and President Zardari held a key meeting at the President’s House in Islamabad, where Zardari invited the PML-N to formally join the new government in Azad Kashmir.

The meeting also covered the political situation, key national issues, regional developments, and security matters.

Former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Rana Sanaullah, Naveed Qamar, Raja Pervez Ashraf, and Sherry Rehman attended the meeting alongside the President and the Prime Minister.

Sources said that it has been agreed to continue the consultation process in the meeting.

Earlier, sources said that the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had nominated Chaudhry Yasin for the office of Azad Kashmir prime minister. The party’s central leadership, after long consultations, named its AJK chapter’s President as the candidate for prime ministership.

The decision was approved during a meeting at Zardari House, where PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari formally announced Yasin’s nomination, party sources said.

Sources further said that AJK President Azad Kashmir Barrister Sultan Mahmood will not be removed from office; he will remain in office and complete his constitutional term.
