RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): Pakistan Navy seized narcotics worth an estimated $96 million during two counter-narcotics operations in the Arabian Sea, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.

The military’s media wing said that Pakistan Navy Ship Yarmook, while deployed in the Arabian Sea, conducted operations at “extended ranges from the Pakistani coast, resulting in successful seizure of a large cache of narcotics”.

The press release added that during the operations, two dhows were intercepted, and “approximately 850 kg of Ice and 2000 kg of Hashish/Cannabis” were recovered from concealed compartments inside the vessels.

“The seized narcotics, valued at approximately US$ 96 million, were taken into custody and will subsequently be handed over to concerned authorities for further disposal and legal proceedings,” it said.

These successful operations reflect Pakistan Navy’s sustained presence, vigilance, and unwavering commitment to regional maritime security and the fight against illicit trafficking at sea, the ISPR said.
