NEELUM (Kashmir English): The 21st anniversary of the devastating October 8, 2005 earthquake will be observed across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) on Thursday, with special ceremonies planned to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the disaster.
A circular issued by Deputy Commissioner Neelum Chaudhry Iqbal Hassan stated that the main ceremony in Neelum district will be held in Aathmaqam at 8:52 a.m.
The ceremony will begin with a one-minute silence in memory of the earthquake victims, followed by Fateha and special prayers for the departed souls.
Participants will also reaffirm their commitment to strengthening collective preparedness, protecting human lives and improving relief and emergency response mechanisms during natural disasters.
According to the deputy commissioner’s circular, awareness programmes will also be organised at government and private institutions across the district.
