RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq made an emergency visit to Rawalakot at 2 AM and paid a visit to injured cops in the deadly Rawalakot police operation.

The Prime Minister also attended the funeral prayers of the police officers martyred in the Hussain Kot terrorist attack, which was held at Degree College Rawalakot after Fajr prayers. The martyrs include Constable Ghulfraaz, a resident of Bhimber, and Constable Tariq Bashir, a resident of Rawalakot.

Two police officers were martyred in the incident, while several others were injured. Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq also visited the injured personnel at CMH Rawalakot.

He was accompanied by Azad Kashmir’s Minister for Public Health Nisar Ansar Abdali and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Rana Abdul Jabbar during his visit.

Four terrorists were killed in a police encounter in Rawalakot, according to the Commissioner of Poonch Division.

In the Rawalakot police operation, four wanted criminals were killed, two police officers were martyred and seven others were injured.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rawalakot Riyaz Mughal, the killed suspects, including Zarnosh and her brother, were wanted in murder cases. The criminals had taken refuge in a cave in a forest in Hussain Kot.

SSP Poonch Riaz Mughal has confirmed that security forces stopped a major terrorist attack by eliminating four militants in a late-night operation in Rawalakot. Acting on intelligence, police raided a hideout in Hussain Kot where the suspects were hiding in a cave.

The Rawalakot police operation, led by SSP Poonch and DSP Headquarters, involved SSG commandos and took place in challenging terrain. During the raid, one terrorist, Jibran, hurled a grenade, wounding an officer and another suspect. A fierce shootout followed, leaving all four militants dead.

The group’s leader, Zarnosh Naseem, was wanted for the murder of Sajjad Resham and previous attacks on police. Authorities linked the militants to Tehreek-i-Taliban Kashmir (TTK), alleging they operated under an organised network led by Afghanistan-based Dr Rauf & Company.

Two of the dead terrorists, Zarnosh and Jibran Naseem, were brothers from Bagh district’s Ghani Abad area. The identities of the other two remain unknown.
