RAWALAKOT (Kashmir English): Four terrorists were killed in a police encounter in Rawalakot, according to the Commissioner of Poonch Division.
In a police operation in Rawalakot, four wanted criminals were killed, two police officers were martyred and seven others were injured.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Rawalakot Riyaz Mughal, the killed suspects, including Zarnosh and her brother, were wanted in murder cases. The criminals had taken refuge in a cave in a forest in Hussain Kot.
The police had received intelligence that the suspects were planning a major terrorist attack in Azad Kashmir. SSP Rawalakot stated that he, along with a police team, surrounded the suspects hiding in the forest.
During the operation, one of the accused, Jabran, threw a grenade at the police, injuring his accomplice and a police officer. A fierce exchange of fire followed, resulting in the deaths of all four suspects in the Rawalakot encounter.
Unfortunately, two police personnel were martyred, and seven others sustained injuries in the encounter.
According to the Commissioner of Poonch Division, the operation was led by SSP Poonch, Muhammad Riaz Mughal. As the police closed in on the terrorists, they came under heavy gunfire.
Two officers were martyred and three sustained serious injuries in the unfortunate Rawalakot encounter. The injured were shifted to Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Rawalakot for medical treatment.
Rawalakot police raid
In Rawalakot, a police raid was conducted on a terrorist hideout in the Hussain Kot area under the supervision of SSP Poonch and DSP Headquarters Rawalakot.
When the police surrounded the hideout from all sides, the terrorists opened fire and hurled grenades, leading to an intense shootout. During the exchange of fire, two police officers were martyred, and seven others were injured.
Four terrorists, including their ringleader Zarnosh, were killed in the operation. SSP Poonch Riyaz Mughal, along with DSP Akram Sharif, later briefed journalists about the operation.
