MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir government has initiated practical steps to introduce a transparent recruitment system for government jobs, with Prime Minister Barrister Iftikhar Gilani directing all departments to conduct recruitment under the Third-Party Recruitment Act.

During the first phase, the recruitment process will begin in development departments. Details of vacant positions in Basic Pay Scales (BPS) 7 to 15 have been sought to move forward with the hiring process.

All chief engineers have been directed to submit information about vacant posts. Government job advertisements will be issued once the required details are received.

Under the proposed system, recruitment in development departments will be conducted through a third-party process to ensure transparency and merit.

In the past, complaints were frequently raised about politically motivated appointments through contingent and work-charged positions. The new administration has begun taking steps to address these practices and reform the recruitment system.

Preparations are also underway to introduce merit-based recruitment through the National Testing Service (NTS), alongside a biometric attendance system to monitor the presence of government employees.

The proposed reforms have been welcomed by various public and social circles, who see the measures as a step towards improving transparency and accountability in government departments.
