KURRAM (Kashmir English): Pakistani security forces have foiled an infiltration attempt by militants along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to security sources.

Sources said security personnel detected the movement of members of Fitna al-Khawarij attempting to cross into Pakistan near the border and immediately responded.

The security forces engaged the infiltrators with effective fire, forcing them to retreat and flee towards the Afghan side, according to the sources.

Security sources further said that Afghan border posts were attempting to facilitate the militants’ infiltration, but the effort was thwarted by the timely response of Pakistani forces.

The sources said Pakistani forces also targeted Afghan border positions providing assistance to the infiltrators. They added that the situation in the border area remains under the control of Pakistani security forces.

In recent weeks, Pakistani security forces have also reported foiling several infiltration attempts along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Security forces remain on high alert along the border and, according to Pakistani security officials, are prepared to respond to further infiltration attempts.
