ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The nationwide death toll from this year’s monsoon-related incidents crossed 126 while the number of injured climbed to over 400, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
The deaths were recorded from the period between June 26 to August 1, 2026.
The main cause of deaths, according to a report released by the NDMA, was electrocution, followed by flash floods, drowning, and lightning, among other rain-related incidents such as house collapse and trees falling.
In the report, the NDMA reported four deaths over the past 24 hours due to rain-related incidents, including drowning and lightning, with Sindh reporting three of the casualties.
Meanwhile, a total of 16 people were injured over the 24 hours, with the maximum number of incidents reported in Punjab.
Punjab recorded 47 deaths between June 26 and August 1, including 19 children. As many as 295 people, including 68 children, were injured in the province during the same period, according to the report.
Monsoon-related deaths in KP
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa saw 55 deaths, the report said, with the province also seeing 82 injuries.
In Sindh, five deaths and seven injuries were reported, while Balochistan recorded eight deaths and 15 injuries.
