LAHORE (Kashmir English): The Punjab government on Wednesday dispatched 15 ‘Clinic on Wheels’, mobile medical vehicles, along with medicines, medical equipment, and medical staff for Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
The development came a day after President PML-N Nawaz Sharif, during a public rally in Muzaffarabad, announced that the Punjab government would send Clinic on Wheels units to AJK for the improvement of healthcare.
While dispatching these mobile clinics, Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir said that this step has been taken on the instructions of CM Maryam Nawaz to provide basic medical facilities to the people of Azad Kashmir.
He said that under the leadership of Maryam Nawaz, the scope of health facilities is being expanded beyond Punjab and extended to other areas. “Maryam Nawaz is following the vision of serving the people of not only Punjab but also Kashmir and the entire Pakistan,” he stated.
Nazir added that the ‘Clinic on Wheels’ project is playing an important role in providing basic medical facilities to the citizens living in remote and backward areas, especially.
He said that the mobile clinics are equipped with essential medical equipment, while each vehicle is accompanied by doctors, technicians and other medical staff so that medical services can be provided to the patients on the spot.
These mobile clinics, in addition to providing medicines to patients in a dispensary style, also collect samples for various medical tests, which are later sent for laboratory analysis.
