RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): A local holiday has been announced in various cities across the country today for different reasons.
The Punjab government has issued a formal notification announcing a local holiday in Lahore on Aug 4 on the occasion of the annual Urs of Hazrat Data Gunj Bakhsh (RA).
According to the issued notification, district offices and all government institutions under the Deputy Commissioner (DC) in Lahore will remain closed today (Aug 4).
The notification clarified that this local holiday will not apply to the Punjab Civil Secretariat and other provincial government institutions, and they will remain open as usual.
Holiday in Sindy
The Sindh government has also announced that educational institutions will remain closed on August 4 on the occasion of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A).
The Sindh School Education Department has said the public and private educational institutions will remain closed on the occasion of the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A), and a notification has also been issued in this regard.
According to the notification, all public and private schools in the province will remain closed on Tuesday, Aug 4, 2026, corresponding to 20 Safar 1148 Hijri, while public and private colleges in Sindh will also remain closed. This decision will apply to all educational institutions across Sindh.
Muzaffarabad holiday
According to the Deputy Commissioner Muzaffarabad, there will be a public holiday in constituencies LA-27 and LA-28 of Muzaffarabad district on August 4.
There will be a public holiday in Muzaffarabad 1 and Muzaffarabad 2 constituencies due to elections on selective polling stations.
Rawalpindi
Furthermore, a holiday has been announced for today in all public and private educational institutions in Rawalpindi.
The Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi has announced a holiday today for all public and private educational institutions located within the limits of Rawalpindi City on the occasion of Chehlum.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, this holiday will be limited only to the boundaries of Rawalpindi City, while educational institutions located in Cantonment Board areas will be exempt from this decision.
The Deputy Commissioner further stated that commercial centers located on the routes of the Chehlum procession will also remain closed during the procession to ensure effective security and traffic arrangements.
