ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Former Prime Minister and President Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif, has called a party meeting in Murree on August 15 to discuss government formation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to sources, the meeting will be held at 11am on Saturday at the Governor House in Murree and will be chaired by Nawaz Sharif.

The PML-N’s parliamentary party and central leadership in AJK are expected to attend the meeting, where consultations will be held on the formation of the new government, and a final decision is expected on the party’s candidate for prime minister.

According to sources, three senior leaders, PML-N AJK President Shah Ghulam Qadir, Secretary General Chaudhry Tariq Farooq, and former AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider, are being considered for the office of AJK Prime Minister.

These three names will be thoroughly considered, and final approval will be given in this high-level meeting.

The meeting will also review the overall political situation in AJK following the completion of the election and discuss priorities for the incoming government.

Sources said the leadership is expected to deliberate on key issues facing the people of Azad Kashmir as well as a development and welfare agenda for the next five years.

Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry on Wednesday said that the total strength of PML-N in the AJK Legislative Assembly is expected to rise to 30 after the allocation of reserved seats.
