MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Internet users in parts of Azad Kashmir are experiencing slower mobile network speeds; however, government sources have clarified that the issue is due to a temporary technical glitch, not any government policy.

According to official sources, the slowdown has affected only certain mobile networks, while fiber internet users, including those on SCO Fibernet, continue to enjoy uninterrupted access to all online platforms and social media services.

The government emphasized that private mobile companies provide service primarily in profitable areas, whereas SCO provides internet and communication facilities to remote regions without regard for financial gain.

The sources also highlighted that SCO has established over 100 IT centers across Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan in the past 20 months, equipped with high-speed internet, modern workstations, and continuous power supply to empower local youth.

The officials further said that the national slowdown caused by a submarine cable fault has already been resolved, and the current issue is isolated to mobile networks.

The PTA, government, and telecom operators are working jointly to resolve it soon.

Government sources urged citizens not to be misled by misinformation, saying that protests using the internet as a pretext are unjustified.
