CHIKAAR (Kashmir English): Pasban-e-Hurriyat, a prominent pro-freedom group in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, organized a large rally in Chakaar to demand the right to self-determination for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. The event drew a massive crowd, including men, women, youth, and children, all united in their call for freedom and justice.
Carrying banners and placards, protesters marched through the city streets, raising powerful slogans against Indian rule in occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The banners highlighted demands for the immediate resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions.
Chants like “The Kashmir nourished with blood is ours”, “Resolve the Kashmir issue!” and “Give freedom to Kashmir!” echoed through the streets of Chakaar.
Addressing the rally, Uzair Ahmed Ghazali, Chairman of Pasban-e-Hurriyat, said, “The people of Kashmir want freedom, justice, and peace,” he said. He further added, “Peace in South Asia is tied to the freedom of Kashmir.”
Ghazali said that the people of Kashmir have always wanted freedom, justice, and peace. He warned that ignoring the region’s demands could continue to fuel instability. “If the Kashmir issue is resolved fairly, lasting peace can be achieved in the region,” he added.
He also urged the UN Security Council to fulfil its long-standing promise of holding a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir, allowing the people to decide their future.
Vice Chairman of Pasban-e-Hurriyat, Usman Ali Hashim, said that India must recognise the fact that the people of Kashmir desire freedom. Referring to the recent success in the “Ma’araka-e-Bunyān Marsous,” he added that India should learn a lesson from it. He urged civilised nations of the world to step forward and take meaningful action to resolve the Kashmir issue.
Concluding the rally, business leader Arif Dar affirmed that the people of Azad Kashmir stand firm and ready alongside Pakistan’s armed forces for the freedom of occupied Kashmir. He said that Kashmiri demonstrators organised the rally in Chakaar to renew their demand for the right to self-determination.
