ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): Questions have been raised over the alleged links of activist and President of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) UK, Tahseen Gilani, who recently participated in a protest outside the Pakistani High Commission in London, with the Indian intelligence agency ‘RAW’, after an old letter surfaced.
After Gilani’s activities and meetings with RAW officials surfaced, it has now become clear that he has been part of the campaign to create an anti-Pakistan narrative.
According to the letter, written by the late former chairman of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Hameed Bhat, Tahseen Gilani was asked to explain reports that he had allegedly met officials linked to India’s intelligence agency, RAW.
The letter stated that the party leadership was informed by a senior official that Tahseen Gilani had allegedly met Indian intelligence officials through a UK-based non-party Kashmiri individual.
It further claimed that Gilani himself informed a party office-bearer about the alleged meeting during the first week of February 2020.
According to the letter, the matter was discussed among UK-based party leaders and the central leadership, and a proposal to constitute an inquiry committee was considered.
The document further claimed that during a meeting with UK-based leaders on February 20, Tahseen Gilani allegedly acknowledged his mistake and opposed the formation of an inquiry committee, after which party leaders considered issuing him a formal notice.
In the letter, Hameed Bhatt had described the matter as serious and sought detailed answers regarding the alleged meeting, including its date, venue, purpose, participants, the identity of the Indian officials, whether contact information was exchanged, the content of the discussion, and whether any future contacts had been planned.
According to the letter, Tahseen Gilani was asked to submit a written explanation within eight days. So far, Tehseen Gilani has not responded to the letter and the questions asked in it.
