ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Islamabad district administration on Wednesday revised operating hours for businesses across the capital city, easing restrictions for a few businesses, aimed at energy conservation and part of national austerity measures.
According to the notification issued by the Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Nawaz Memon, the new restrictions will require all shops, markets, shopping malls, bazaars, and departmental Stores to close by 9 pm.
While food outlets, restaurants, cafes, and standalone fruit and vegetable shops will be allowed to operate till 11 pm. The notification added that there will be no restrictions on takeaway and home delivery services.
As per the notification, grocery and kirana stores will close by 10 pm. Meanwhile, it mentioned that marriage halls, marquees, and all other commercial places where festive events are held shall close at 10 pm throughout the week.

However, it added that pharmacies, medical supply stores, medical laboratories, hospitals, petrol pumps, CNG stations, milk/dairy shops, bakeries, and tandoors were exempt from the restrictions.
As per the new timings, all sports facilities and clubs, including gymnasiums and padel courts, will be exempted from restrictions.
“The revised timings will come into effect from June 10, 2026, and shall remain in force till further notice,” the notification reads.
Govt extends austerity measures till June 30
A meeting of the Committee for Monitoring and Implementation of Fuel Conservation and Additional Austerity Measures, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, today reviewed requests for exemptions by various ministries and divisions and finalised its recommendations accordingly.
The committee decided that consular attestation services at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its liaison offices in Quetta, Karachi, Peshawar, Gujrat, and Lahore will remain open on Fridays as well to facilitate the public.
It also extended the austerity drive and fuel conservation measures, originally set to expire on June 13, until June 30 and revised business operating hours across the country.
The committee further approved extending the closing time of standalone grocery and kirana stores to 10 pm on all days, including weekends.
The meeting was attended by the ministers for Petroleum, Climate Change, and IT & Telecom; the special assistant to the prime minister (SAPM) on Finance; the special assistant to the deputy prime minister (SADPM); the secretaries of cabinet, commerce, petroleum, and IT & telecom; as well as senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant ministries and divisions.
