TEHRAN (Kashmir English): Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Esmail Baghaei has denied the reports regarding the re-closure of the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian state-media IRNA reported.

Earlier, the US publication, the New York Post, reported that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had announced the re-closure of the Strait of Hormuz over maritime radio channels.

In a statement, the IRGC-Navy said the US violated the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which President Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed on Wednesday, the report stated.

“Since Israel’s withdrawal from Lebanon, the complete lifting of the naval blockade, and the withdrawal of American terrorist forces from the Persian Gulf and the region are among the main conditions of the agreement between Iran and the United States, the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until these conditions are met,” it said.

“All ships are requested, for the sake of their security and safety, not to approach the Strait of Hormuz. Any vessel that defies this directive will be targeted,” the newspaper reported.

However, Baghaei dismissed these reports as baseless, saying that the Iranian armed forces have taken the necessary measures to ensure the safe passage of commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding, and shipping is underway on this route.
