Iran announces free visa for Pakistani's attending Khamenei's funeral

TEHRAN (Kashmir English): Iran has reportedly announced to offer a 10-day special free visa to Pakistani citizens travelling for the funeral and mourning of the late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Under the arrangement, Pakistani travelers will not receive visa-free entry, but Iran is expected to waive the normal visa fee for eligible applicants.

Travellers must apply online and get their visas approved before travel. They will be provided a special entry in the Iran eVisa system for mourning and Funeral with the normal fee of Iranian visas to be exempt.

Special 10-day free visas in Iran

It is understood that Iranians are processing the applications through the eVisa system with Iran where a user is to choose the special entry visa category and that he/she is travelling for funeral or mourning with latest reports suggesting that special process is adopted via which the government has been process in the latest event where Iran is planning to host thousands of foreign dignitaries and mourners for the events to bid farewell to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

PM Shehbaz Sharif had announced earlier this month that Pakistan is sending a delegation for the ceremony.

Pakistani citizens, who want to travel to Iran for these ceremonies, will have to provide some essential documents as follows:

What documents do Pakistani travelers need?

Pakistani applicants are reportedly required to upload:

  • A valid CNIC copy
  • Employment card, business card, or student ID (where applicable)
  • Recent passport-sized photograph with a white background
  • Passport information page
  • A passport valid for at least six months

Applicants must also clearly explain the purpose of their visit and provide accurate information to avoid delays in processing. Standard Iranian eVisa requirements typically include a passport with at least six months of validity and supporting identification documents.
