ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The Islamabad district administration on Wednesday announced the closure of five hiking trails in the federal capital for the general public on Thursday, August 13.
According to a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, “Trail 2, Trail 3, Trail 4, Trail 5, and the trail behind Saidpur Village will remain closed throughout the day.”
“Citizens are advised to avoid visiting these trails and cooperate with the authorities,” DC Irfan wrote in a post on X.
Earlier, the Islamabad Traffic Police issued a detailed traffic advisory ahead of Independence Day celebrations at Yadgar-e-Fateh, H-8, scheduled for August 13.
According to the advisory, the entry of heavy traffic into Islamabad will remain prohibited from 12 midnight on August 12 until 12 midnight on August 14.
Several roads and link routes will also be closed or diverted during the celebrations, while alternative routes have been designated for light traffic.
Major Diversions
Faisal Avenue: The section between Koral Chowk and Khayaban Chowk will remain closed in both directions.
Citizens travelling between GT Road, Coral and Islamabad have been advised to use Khanna Pul Loop, Lehtrar Road, Park Road, Rawal Dam Chowk, Murree Road, Serena Hotel, Suhrawardy Road, Jinnah Avenue and Margalla Road.
Motorists travelling between Khayaban Chowk and Coral have been advised to use Jinnah Avenue, Ninth Avenue, Double Road, Murree Road, Rawalpindi, Rawal Road, and Old Airport Road.
Faizabad and Rawal Dam: Link roads around the Faizabad Loop, Expressway, and Ojri Loop will remain closed. Commuters travelling between Rawalpindi and Islamabad have been advised to use Ninth Avenue, Jinnah Avenue, or Murree Road.
Those travelling between Rawalpindi and Coral via the Expressway have been advised to use Rawal Road and Old Airport Road.
H-8 and I-8: Garden Flyover on the I-8 side, Faiz Ahmed Faiz Road, Mir Chakar Road, Judicial Academy, and Mir Zafarullah Road near Yadgar-e-Fateh H-8 will remain closed to traffic.
Residents of I-8 and H-8 have been advised to use Ninth Avenue and Jinnah Avenue, while motorists travelling towards Rawalpindi should use Ninth Avenue, IJP Road, Double Road and Murree Road.
Shakarparian: Garden Shakarparian near I-8 and Faisal Avenue will be completely closed. Motorists travelling towards I-8 have been advised to use Seventh Avenue, Jinnah Avenue, and Ninth Avenue.
Chand Tara T-Cross near Shakarparian and Garden Avenue Road will also remain closed, with Seventh Avenue and Murree Road available as alternative routes.
Srinagar Highway: Peshawar Road near Kodianwala Chowk and Srinagar Highway will be closed in both directions.
Motorists travelling from Islamabad Chowk via Srinagar Highway have been advised to use Peshawar Mor Flyover, Ninth Avenue, Jinnah Avenue, and Margalla Road.
Those travelling from Murree and Bhara Kahu towards Islamabad can use Murree Road, Serena Hotel, Suhrawardy Road and Jinnah Avenue.
Motorists travelling from Islamabad or Bhara Kahu towards Rawalpindi have been advised to use Rawal Dam Chowk, Park Road, Captain Naeem Tufail Shaheed Chowk, Lehtrar Road, Khanna, and the Expressway.
Passengers travelling to Islamabad International Airport have been advised to use Margalla Road, Jinnah Avenue, Peshawar Mor Flyover, Srinagar Highway, and Iran Avenue.
