SURAB (Kashmir English): A vehicle-borne suicide device reportedly exploded while being prepared by terrorists in Surab near Khuzdar in Balochistan last night, killing at least 22 terrorists, according to security sources.
Sources said the explosion occurred at an improvised explosive device (IED) factory as members of Fitna Al Khawarij (FAH) were allegedly preparing the vehicle for a suicide attack.
The blast also damaged nearby houses, and casualties among civilians residing in the area were feared.
“Five stand-alone huts used by terrorists were also totally gutted,” sources said.
Furthermore, due to the blast wave, some houses’ walls collapsed, which were around 300-400 meters away.
Following the explosion, Levies personnel and security forces moved into the area and launched an operation. According to sources, fleeing terrorists and their alleged facilitators were engaged by the security forces.
Further details regarding civilian casualties, the identities of those killed, and the circumstances surrounding the explosion are being ascertained. The security operation in the area is continuing.
