MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Despite disruptions in freight transport caused by road closures, there is currently no shortage of food items in Azad Kashmir, according to local sources.

Sources say that while some transporters have temporarily stopped sending freight vehicles to Azad Kashmir due to the security situation and road blockades, markets in Muzaffarabad remain largely open and commercial activities are continuing as usual.

Residents are reportedly shopping without panic, and essential commodities, including vegetables, fruits, chicken, beef, and other daily-use items, are readily available in markets.

Major shopping malls and retail outlets in the city are also operating normally. According to local sources, claims circulating on social media regarding an acute food shortage and alleged threats to traders are misleading and do not reflect the current ground situation.

They maintain that normal business activity is continuing and there is no immediate concern over the availability of essential food supplies.
