MUZAFFARABAD/ MIRPUR/ SUDHANOTI (Kashmir Digital): Inflation has a negative impact at both buyers and traders at the cattle markets set up in different cities of Azad Kashmir ahead of Eid-ul-Adha.
As the Eid ul-Adha approaches fast, cattle markets have been set up in small and large cities of Azad Kashmir.
A survey of the markets reveals that this year, inflation has troubled both buyers and traders.
A significant increase in animal prices is being observed in the cattle markets in Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Sudhanoti, Mirpur, and other areas.
According to buyers, compared to last year, the prices of goats and sheep saw an increase by Rs 15,000-20,000 per cattle.
Buyers told Kashmir Digital that last year, a healthy sheep was available for Rs 50,000-60,000, but this year a sheep is being sold for Rs 75,000-80,000.
On the other hand, traders said that the increase in fodder prices and lack of facilities in the markets have increased their expenses.
They said the prices of animals is high, but due to the low number of buyers, business is being affected.
People said that due to inflation, it has become difficult to buy sacrificial animals. They said they were roaming in the markets but not finding animals at reasonable prices.
They said that if the prices do not decrease, they will consider collective sacrifice.
Facilities at cattle markets
Both buyers and traders have demanded the government to provide facilities at cattle markets and take measures to control prices so that people can perform the Sunnah of Ibrahim.
