LEEDS (Kashmir English): Pakistani opener Imam-ul-Haq crossed the 5,000-run milestone on the first day of the Leeds Test against England.

The 30-year-old Imam needed just four runs to achieve the feat. He hit a boundary off English fast bowler Ollie Robinson in the ninth over to complete his 5,000-run international run haul.

Imam-ul-Haq became the 30th Pakistani batsman to achieve the feat overall. The list also includes former greats like Inzamam-ul-Haq, Younis Khan, Javed Miandad and Imran Khan.

Imam-ul-Haq has scored 5,038 runs in 107 international matches, including 12 centuries and 31 half-centuries. His batting average in international cricket is 41.29.

In the Leeds Test, Imam-ul-Haq played an innings of 42 runs and was dismissed by Josh Tong. His 91-run partnership with Abdullah Shafiq played a key role in helping Pakistan recover from an early loss.

However, later Pakistan’s batting line faltered again, and the entire team was all out for 171 runs. Josh Tong and Olly Robinson took 5 wickets each for England.
