LONDON (Kashmir English): England has officially announced its 16-man squad for the upcoming ODI and T20 series at home against West Indies.
The series include both ODI and T20I games. The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) unveiled the squads on Tuesday for the ODI and T20 series beginning May 29.
Liam Livingstone has been dropped from England’s squads, despite being fully fit and available for selection.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Liam Dawson has been recalled to the T20 side, marking his return to international cricket after nearly three years.
Livingstone’s omission comes as a surprise, especially after he featured during 2024 ODI series in the Caribbean. His absence raises eyebrows as he remains fit and injury-free.
Dawson, 35, will feature in the T20s only. The series also marks a new era for England with Harry Brook named captain across both formats, following Jos Buttler’s decision to step down earlier this year.
Buttler, however, is still part of both squads and could face a scheduling conflict as the rescheduled IPL is likely to overlap with England’s ODI series. Buttler’s Gujarat Titans are favourites for a deep playoff run.
The ECB has however said that it will reassess ‘No Objection Certificates’ if the IPL continues longer than anticipated.
England’s white-ball home season includes three ODIs (May 29, June 1, June 3) and three T20s (June 6, 8, 10).
