RAWALPINDI (Kashmir English): Security forces took timely action after a passerby opened fire on a security forces vehicle during routine duty on Mall Road, Rawalpindi, security sources said.
According to security sources, the incident occurred this morning when the security forces vehicle was carrying out its routine duties on Mall Road. A passerby allegedly opened fire at the vehicle with a 9mm pistol.
The personnel onboard responded in self-defence in accordance with the law and standing operating procedures (SOPs), resulting in the death of the individual who opened fire.
Security sources identified the deceased as Muhammad Hussain, a resident of Khyber District, and claimed that he was an active member of PTI.
A party flag, weapons, ammunition, and important documents were reportedly recovered from his possession, according to security sources.
Further investigation into the incident is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting and the motive behind the attack, the sources added.
