MURREE (Kashmir English): Section 144 of the Cr.P.C. has been imposed on the Mall Road in Murree to maintain law and order and prevent any untoward incidents during the Independence Day celebrations.
Deputy Commissioner Murree Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, on the recommendation of DPO Murree, issued a notification to impose Section 144 on Mall Road and GPO Chowk from Monday until August 16.
Under this restriction, only tourist families will be allowed to enter the Mall Road and GPO Chowk premises.
Other tourist spots in Murree
The notification states that bachelors are allowed to visit other recreational spots in the city along with tourists. Every tourist will have unrestricted entry and permission for recreation at all other tourist spots in Murree except for Mall Road.
According to District administration, a large number of tourists are expected on the occasion of Independence Day, so these measures have been taken to reduce crowding at sensitive locations like Mall Road and to maintain law and order in the city.
Local police and district administration have made comprehensive security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident, while tourists have been urged to comply with administrative orders and enjoy other beautiful spots such as Pindi Point, Kashmir Point, chairlifts, and other areas as well.
