PESHAWAR (Kashmir English): Public frustration is growing in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with residents accusing the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)- led provincial government of poor governance, alleged corruption and prioritising political activities over the province’s pressing problems.
Residents said the government’s performance appears largely confined to meetings, rallies and demonstrations, while issues related to peace, education, healthcare and infrastructure remain unresolved.
They also criticised provincial lawmakers for repeatedly discussing dates and plans related to Imran Khan’s release instead of focusing on the security situation and everyday problems faced by people across KP.
The public also questioned the use of provincial funds, pointing to Rs3,114 billion received through NFC awards and Rs3,774 billion allocated in connection with terrorism, while claiming that the security situation has not significantly improved.
Residents alleged that police personnel have not received adequate weapons and that police stations have not been sufficiently developed. They also questioned whether the NFC share allocated for the merged tribal districts has actually been spent on development in those areas.
Allegations of corruption in government transfers and postings were also raised, while residents demanded action against those allegedly involved in illegal mining.
With concerns over security, governance and development mounting, residents said KP appears to be functioning without effective government oversight, and called for accountability and immediate action on the province’s worsening problems.
