DUBAI (Kashmir English): Dubai Customs foiled a wildlife smuggling bid at the airport by discovering an abandoned suitcase that contained a variety of creatures, including snakes, lizards, scorpions, and frogs.
Authorities at Dubai International Airport successfully intercepted the large-scale wildlife smuggling bid after discovering 223 live animals concealed inside the abandoned suitcase.
Following the operation, authorities coordinated with specialized organizations and wildlife experts to ensure the animals receive appropriate care and treatment.
Describing the operation as a significant success in the fight against wildlife crime, they reaffirmed their commitment to preserving biodiversity and enforcing international conservation laws.
Officials said the animals including snakes, lizards, scorpions, and frogs were being transported illegally when customs inspectors uncovered the suspicious luggage and moved swiftly to prevent the smuggling attempt.

The operation was carried out in line with ongoing measures to prevent attempts to smuggle endangered wildlife in violation of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES).
