KOTLI (Kashmir English): In a recent crackdown on harmful and unhealthy food items, the Food Authority Kotli discovered a dead rat in the prepared cake in the warehouse of Gujarat Bakery near Gulhar Sharif Kotli.

The Food Authority team reached the spot and immediately sealed the warehouse of Gujarat Bakery. The inspection found serious violations of cleanliness, poor storage, and violations of hygiene norms.

The operation was conducted on the special order of the Supreme Court of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, after which the Food Authority Kotli team took extensive action against fast food points, chicken shops, and bakeries across the city.

During the operation,  several shopkeepers were fined heavily for poor sanitation arrangements, substandard items, and preparation of food harmful to human health.

Additionally, the Food Authority Kotli also discarded 60 kg of smelly and substandard meat recovered from various chicken shops, which was destroyed on the spot.

According to the District Food Safety Officer Kotli, this meat was very harmful to health and was not usable in any way.

According to the District Food Safety Officer Kotli, the provision of quality and safe food to the public will be ensured at all times by implementing the clear instructions of the Supreme Court.

He added that strict legal action is being taken against those who are playing with health, and these operations will continue regularly.

The public has been appealed to immediately report any such incident or complaint to the office of the District Food Safety Officer Kotli or the Food Authority Azad Kashmir helpline 1280 so that timely action can be taken.
