MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The federal budget has allocated a development budget of Rs 45 billion for Azad Kashmir, while Rs 33 billion has been allocated for Azad Kashmir under block allocation.
The Azad Kashmir government will provide development schemes from the amount received under the block allocation, which will also include local government schemes.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has given Rs 5 billion to Azad Kashmir under a special package.
The federal government has allocated Rs 1.15 billion for the 48 MW Jagran Hydropower Project 2, and Rs 884.4 million for the Rathua Haryam Bridge and connection roads.
Rs. 431 million has been allocated for the MBBS Medical College Mirpur, Rs. 152.3 million for Mirwaiz Muhammad Farooq Shaheed Medical College Muzaffarabad, and Rs. 272.6 million for the Nausiri Lesua Bypass Road.
Rs. 396 million has been allocated for the rehabilitation of LoC victims, Rs. 50 million for the Mirpur Water Supply and Sewerage Scheme, and Rs. 299.7 million for the 40 MW Duarian Hydropower Project, Neelum.
Rs 944.6 million has been allocated for the provision of CT scan and MRI machines for DHQ and teaching hospitals, and Rs 1 billion has been allocated for the improvement of the electricity transmission system in Azad Kashmir.
Rs 1.48 billion has been allocated for the Assembly Complex, Rs 1.1089 billion for Danish School Haveli, Rs 514.5 million for Danish School Hari Gehli, and Rs 599.8 million for Danish School Bhimber.
Rs 1.5582 billion has been allocated for Danish School Sharda, and Rs 555.2 million has been allocated in the federal budget for the construction of Women’s University Bagh.
Rs 146 billion has been allocated for Azad Kashmir under the ongoing expenditure, which will be spent on salaries, pensions, and other items.
