JHELUM (Kashif Zia): Meet Lord Miles, a British national and YouTuber, who refused to let his prized AirPods slip away, traveled miles, proving allegiance to his surname, to recover his stolen AirPods from Jhelum, a city in Punjab, Pakistan, with the help of the local police.
Taking on social media site X, Miles announced, “I have MY AirPods back after 1 year!”
He confirmed that the AirPods were stolen during his stay in a private hotel in Dubai, UAE, over a year ago, and were tracked to Jhelum.
“1 year old. 1.5 months planning, 2700 miles, special operation with Pakistani police…. I got my AirPods back. Stolen by an Indian,” he wrote.
He further said that the AirPods were unknowingly sold to a Pakistani man by an Indian national who’s now been arrested on procuring and trafficking stolen goods.
A month ago, Miles shared a picture on X, showing the location of his AirPods, somewhere in Jhluem, Pakistan, which crossed staggering 13 million views.
“My AirPod pros have been lost for a year in Pakistan, and guess who’s going to go there next week and get his property back!” he wrote.
His story engaged millions of users online, but guess what, another thing amazed people more – the 2nd Wife Restaurant. Yes, a restaurant location showed on the tracking map he shared on X, reading the 2nd Wife Restaurant.
In his latest tweet with his gadget in his hand, he expressed gratitude to the District Police Officer Jhelum Tariq Aziz Sandhu, adding, “They also treated me to lunch at 2nd wife restaurant.”
Talking to the media outside the District Police Office Jhelum, the YouTuber said that an Indian waiter stole my AirPods from the hotel room on the pretext of cleaning and then sold them to a Pakistani citizen. “When I tracked them using Apple’s Find My app, the location Jhelum appeared,” he said.
On this occasion, DPO Jhelum Tariq said the police received a social media message about the AirPods’ location and swiftly retweeted the information to gather more details.
He said the police were able to obtain the mobile number associated with the AirPods and used available resources to trace the location. The AirPods were recovered from a Pakistani citizen who had purchased them from an Indian national in Dubai. The citizen has happily returned the AirPods.
Lord Miles expressed his gratitude to the Jhelum Police, praising their speed and professionalism in recovering his stolen property. He noted that even Scotland Yard might not have acted as quickly, highlighting the efficiency of the Pakistani law enforcement.
