MAKKAH (Kashmir English): Saudi football club Al-Nassr has announced that Brazilian female footballer Kathleen Sousa of their women’s team has embraced Islam.
Al-Nassr Club’s female players expressed joy over Kathleen Sousa’s conversion to Islam, holding a ceremony in her honour and congratulating her.
According to Al Arabiya, Al-Nassr Club in a post on X said, “We are with our player Kathleen in this important moment of her life and pray to the Generous Lord to grant her steadfastness and fill her heart with peace and tranquility.”
The footballer was just searching for the right path
On her X account, Kathleen Sousa said that for a long time she was just searching for the right path for herself to choose the best way.
It is worth noting that 29-year-old Kathleen Sousa was born in the state of São Paulo. She played as a center-back for the Italian club Inter Milan.
Before joining Saudi Arabia’s Al-Nassr Club, she was associated with Real Madrid from 2022 to 2024.
Kathleen had a passion for football since childhood, starting briefly with Santos FC youth teams in Brazil. Later, she moved to the United States where she studied at the University of Central Florida, Louisville.
Kathleen also released a short video message on her social media account regarding her conversion to Islam, in which she can be seen performing Umrah with her teammates at Masjid al-Haram.
