Portuguese star Ronaldo edges closer to 1,000 goals

FUNCHAL, Portugal (Kashmir English): Having already scored 948 goals and maintaining an exceptional average of over 50 per year since 2010, Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo is closing in on an unprecedented milestone of 1,000 career goals.

Ronaldo is likely to become the first footballer in recorded football history to score 1,000 in October, based on his current scoring rate, Sky Sports’ “Between the Lines” predicted.

CR7 (Cristiano Ronaldo #7 / Forward) already made another scoring record after becoming the top scorer in the World Cup qualifying history with his double in Portugal’s 2-2 draw against Hungary on Tuesday night.

He also tops World Cup qualifiers with 41 goals, leaving behind former Guatemala striker Carlos Ruiz (39) and Argentina’s Lionel Messi’s 36.

Ronaldo turned 40 in February

Ronaldo, who turned 40 in February, scored a total of record 143 goals in 225 games for Portugal in addition to 805 in 1,068 club level games. He continued scoring goals on both international and club levels.

With Al-Nassr club of Saudi Arabia, he scored 104 goals in 117 appearances across four seasons, with 32 goals already for club and country in 2025.
