ISLAMABAD (Kashmir English): The facility to make e-passports will be available at all National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) centers from September 7, according to the spokesperson.
Citizens will be able to renew and reprint e-passports from NADRA centers across Pakistan, including Karachi.
The issuance, replacement, and issuance of new e-passports will be done from passport offices, as per the spokesperson.
The passport counters in NADRA offices will be gradually eliminated, and the staff will be recalled.
This facility will be provided at NADRA centers under an agreement between the Passport Department and NADRA.
The Spokesperson added that the modern e-passport will have an electronic chip installed, which will store the biometric and personal data of the holder, and will be in accordance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization.
The e-passport will include an NFC chip, laser engraving, and infrared and ultraviolet security features, which will make the identification and verification process at airports more secure and faster.
Passport Department announces Saturday delivery service
Earlier, the Passport Department made an important announcement for the convenience of citizens and has decided to keep passport delivery counters open across the country every Saturday.
According to an announcement issued by the Passport Department, citizens will be able to receive their ready passports on Saturdays.
According to the announcement, passport delivery counters across the country will remain open from 8 am to 4 pm on Saturdays.
Director General, Immigration and Passports, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, advised citizens to collect their ready passports soon.
Citizens who do not come during normal office hours should take advantage of the weekly facility.
According to the Immigration and Passports Department, passports not received for more than six months will be destroyed in accordance with government policy. Muhammad Ali Randhawa appealed to applicants to receive their passports on time.
