MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, emphasized the need for institutional reforms and infrastructure improvement in the education system, stating that the current system would collapse under its weight if reforms are not implemented.
He made these remarks while addressing the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected members of the Azad Kashmir College Teachers Association (AKCTA) 2025
Prime Minister administered the oath to the newly elected members of AKCTA. On this occasion, Minister for Higher Education Zafar Iqbal Malik, Minister for Information Pir Muhammad Mazhar Saeed Shah, other government ministers, President AKCTA Professor Tariq Saleem Shah, Vice President AKCTA Chaudhry Abdul Rahim, Principal Postgraduate College Rawalakot Professor Dr. Yasir Arafat, Principal Postgraduate College Muzaffarabad Dr. Nazar, Senior Vice President AKCTA Dr. Zafar Iqbal and General Secretary AKCTA Chaudhry Abdul Rahim along with a large number of teachers were present.
Addressing the ceremony, the Prime Minister stressed that institutions need to be reformed based on need, and quality education is essential for the development of the region. “Quality has to be brought into education. If we subtract the word quality from education, what will happen then?”
He highlighted that 3 billion rupees have been allocated for improving infrastructure in educational institutions, while 6 billion rupees have been kept for health.
Chaudhry Anwarul Haq said that the accountability system has been strengthened, and flaws should be corrected as soon as they are identified.
He emphasized that teachers play a vital role in shaping the new generation and should work responsibly to foster hope and progress in society. He said teachers have to train the new generation, vowing that the government will address 80% of your gratitude.
“Around 3,000 people passed the National Testing Service (NTS) during his tenure, and merit-based selection has ensured that deserving candidates get government jobs,” he maintained.
On this occasion, PM Haq mentioned that there is no deficit in the current budget, unlike the previous year’s deficit of 23 billion rupees. He announced that the health card scheme will continue, providing essential healthcare services to citizens. He noted that 70% of electricity bills are not paid, even under the free electricity scheme.
