HAVELI (Kashmir English): A shepherd lost 22 goats after the herd allegedly crossed the Line of Control (LoC) while grazing in Haveli district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

In a video statement, Alif Khan, a resident of Kerni village, said that on April 1, 2026, his son, Kamal Din, was grazing goats near the border area when the animals accidentally crossed into the other side of the Line of Control.

The villager said the goats accidentally went across to Indian occupied Kashmir, from where the Indian troops took possession of the goats.

He further stated that the matter was brought to the attention of the relevant authorities, including security officials, but the livestock has not been returned so far.

The affected villager said that he reported the matter to the Kahuta Police Station on April 7.

Speaking in a video statement, Alif Khan said the goats were the primary source of income for his family. He explained that he belongs to a low-income household and relies on livestock farming to support his family’s daily needs.

He claimed that the loss of the animals has caused significant financial hardship and affected the family’s livelihood.

The resident appealed to the Prime Minister of AJK, Faisal Mumtaz Rathore, and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, for intervention to recover the livestock or provide compensation for the losses incurred.
