MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir, Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, has taken the final decision to resign from office amid the recent political upheaval in the region, sources said.
According to the reports, the premier decided to resign instead of facing the no-confidence motion after consultations with some of his fellow ministers and close relatives.
Earlier, it was reported that PM Haq will hold an important press conference today (Monday) at 3:00 PM; however, it seems to have been delayed.
According to the insiders from the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the AJK PM will formally announce his resignation this evening or tomorrow.
Earlier, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) said Anwarul Haq to resign by today (Monday), otherwise they’ll move a no-confidence motion against him in the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
The Prime Minister has lost the numerical majority in the Legislative Assembly after the separation of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N).
According to reliable sources, the PPP has submitted a no-confidence motion with the signatures of 17 members of the Legislative Assembly, which the Speaker of the Assembly has kept with him with a receipt number.
According to sources, the ministers who are currently standing with the Prime Minister have also advised him to resign instead of facing the dissolution of the Assembly or the no-confidence motion.
