MUZAFFARABAD (Kashmir English): Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Chaudhry Anwarul Haq, questioned that, if someone’s number game is complete, why don’t they bring a no-confidence motion against him?
Speaking informally to journalists at the Prime Minister’s House on Monday, the AJK premier Haq said that the no-confidence motion is the beauty of democracy, and he is ready to face it whenever it comes.
“They [referring to rivals] call my press conference themselves while sitting in Islamabad and postpone it themselves,” the PM added.
His remarks came after the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) claimed to have a majority in the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly after as many as 10 lawmakers joined the party.
President Asif Ali Zardari, who met the AJK lawmakers on Saturday, approved bringing a no-confidence motion against Anwarul Haq.
Addressing the journalists, the premier announced that he will soon hold a detailed press conference to share his stance on the recent political situation in the region.
“As long as I have the power of the pen, I will continue to perform my duties,” PM Haq said, adding that he has no regrets and remains confident in his performance.
The prime minister stated, “My value will come after I am gone. The family that gave birth to me cannot set it on fire for its own sake.”
“I came alone, and today I am standing among friends,” he said. Haq asserted that he is the only Prime Minister who has not emptied the treasury.
Interior Minister Colonel Waqar Noor, Health Minister Ansar Abdali, and Government Minister Azhar Sadiq were also present during the interaction.
